During this trip from Vienna to Salzburg I rode via the southern Czech Republic. Initially, I headed north west out of the Austrian capital, and passed through flat landscapes and small old towns with few high rise buildings. The entire area is characterised by the intense agriculture and farming of grapes.
Entering the Czech Republic
Agriculture is still predominant, but many amusement and shopping centres are located soon after the border, amongst them this plane turned into a restaurant. I rode on a minor country road, along the border with Austria, passing through little quiet villages.
In addition to villages and fields, occasional lakes provid a change in the scenery.
Czech art or humour, I came across this little hill of hardened white sand. Purpose unknown. Countryside and villages are very clean, and inhabitants make a considerable effort at keeping the area presentable. Numerous bunkers are situated along the roadside.
Towards the end, I passed numerous lakes, and rode through dense forests, before heading back towards the Austrian border and the road to Linz, the capital of Upper Austria.
Back in Salzburg, after a good 12 hour ride. I wish I could have spent more days exploring the Czech Republic, but limited time would not allow it. But something is still always better than nothing.
