After buying the Touratech sump guard to protect the engine from flying stones and the exhausts from bumps, it was time to go on the legal byways and test the XT for its off-road qualities.
The light weight makes it easy to manouver, especially when stuck in between two ruts. Dropping it can unfortunately result in some minor re-alignment work on the forks, which, luckily, is quite easy.
I added the SW-Motech centre stand, which fits onto the motorcycle once a sump guard has been added. Fitting was easy, and once on the centre stand, and taking my raised seat into account, my XT has a seat height of 105cm! So tall, that even I can only get on it by using the horse riders trick of placing one foot on a foot peg, and swinging the other leg over. eXTreme? Yes, but I like it that way.
