Off-road in Wales

To Off-road
While I was living in Wales for a year I teamed up with a local off-road enthusiast club and joined them on a couple of thier rides in the country side. Finding off-road possibilities was more tricky than in England, as there were hardly any Byways, but mainly "Rupps", where legality to ride was harder to determine. I even went to the council, to try to establish the status of certain Byways and Rupps, but they themselves were uncertain. With threats of confiscating and crushing of ones motorcycle circulating, I felt very uncomfortable possibly telling policemen "he told me it was ok to ride". Have heard that the Rupps were recently declared illegal to ride, which means that those who ride illegally, not just on Rupps, but anywhere, will continue to do so, and the dumping of rubbish will probably continue too.
Please consult your council and up to date maps on the legality of any of the mentioned byways and locations, as the laws might have changed since my last visit. I accept no responsibility for anything that happens to you at these locations.
