This trip to the Ridgeway took place in Summer 2004. A friend of mine on his F 650 Dakar and I on my KTM LC 4 640 Adventure rode on this, one of the oldest roads in England. The following day we were lucky to have total access to the Salisbury Plains byways, since the armed forces were not practicing and the warning flags were down. The weather was mixed with sunshine and heavy rain following each other in short intervalls, making the riding in the mud even more interesting, and the clouds adding drama to the landscape. We also swopped bikes, my ulterior motive being to test the Dakar, since I was thinking of joining the BMW club as well as keeping my KTM, giving me the choice of two different bikes.
